An OP-Ed piece has been published and signed by 9 HOA Presidents and two coalitions (MNU & RVC). Click on this link to review and provide comments.
The USACE (Army Corps) has invited MNU to comment on the Canal realignment project and we are developing this information. Our community provided public comments to CDPHE on the need for additional environmental testing on the property. We are in an ongoing conversation with CDPHE to provide information on the need for additional testing on the property.
This project involves two main phases - moving a canal and constructing three large buildings.
Each phase is being permitted separately. The permit to move the canal is pending approval by the Army Corp of Engineers.
If the permit is approved, warehouse construction will start in Fall 2023.
20 acres of vacant land in this 40-acre project has residual heavy metal contamination and must be tested and cleaned before the Colorado Department of Health and Environment approves construction.
What can you do this week?
Respond to Jansen Tidmore’s (Jeffco Economic Development Corporation) OP-Ed in the Arvada press. You can submit your comments online at the end of the MNU Op-Ed.
MNU’s responses in full to Mr. Tidmore’s letter are linked here. Please feel free to cut and paste.
Host a “happy hour” - a one-hour information session and fundraiser. MNU volunteers will advertise it and provide the programming. We need to reach your neighborhood – especially the neighbors west of McIntyre and at Wyndham Park.
Organize your neighborhood. Pass out flyers and share information to get your neighborhood engaged.
Speak out at the Arvada City Council, the JeffCo Zoning Board meetings, and the JeffCo County Commissioner meetings.
Write letters. Click on take action for templates to send letters to key officials.
Reach out to businesses and churches. This development will negatively effect businesses as well as our residents. Help identify opportunities to speak to HOAs, civic groups such as the Rotary Club, small businesses, churches, residential real estate brokerages, and other community leaders to raise their awareness and gain their support for a better, compatible development.
Email mcintyreneighborsunited@gmail.com to volunteer.
